Residents are Still Littering in River

There is no choice for residents of Row Village RT 09/02, Cipinang Besar Selatan Urban Village, Jatinegara to throw the garbage except burn it every night. This condition appears since there is no disposal site (TPS). Moreover, the residue of the waste is thrown away to river in the next morning.

We had asked the chief RW to provide disposal site, but there is no action

Triono (53), one of the residents, stated that such process is taken forcibly because of no disposal site around the settlement.

"Burning the garbage will not solve the problem. We had asked the chief RW to provide disposal site, but there is no action," he said, Monday (4/14).

Trash Disposal Closed, Residents Protest

Responding to that, the head of Cipinang Besar Selatan Urban Village, Ibrahim said narrow road access around the settlement has caused garbage truck unable to enter the area. That is why no disposal site there.

Beforehand, a garbage cart had been allocated in that location. It was used by the residents burning the garbage. However, for the same reason, it makes the janitors have difficulty pulling the cart into the truck.

"The only solution is widening the road access toward the settlement to provide disposal site," Ibrahim stated.
